bready

I have to admit, I'm feeling quite the domestic goddess tonight - the floor is vacuumed, washing (almost) done, new blue water thingy in the loo, dinner for the next two nights prepared (lamb casserole - yum!), and we've just finished a lovely roast beef dinner (the left overs of which mean lunch for tomorrow is sorted too).

And, perhaps best of all, to accompany dinner we had fresh home baked dinner rolls! =)

I've been quite keen to do a bit more of this bread-baking business, and chilly, Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to get in some practice.

I baked these from Pip's lovely recipe on the Meet Me at Mikes::Recipes blog.

All the kneading was done using the dough-hook on my Kenwood Chef, while I stacked the dishwasher and had a cup of tea.
And the dough was just beautiful to work with.

The recipe says to split the dough into 3, then each third into 10 to give 30 rolls, but I split my thirds into 8 each - just because I prefer to split it in halves then halves, instead of trying to get 5 equal pieces.

Next weekend I think I might like to try something with seeds/grains.
Any suggestions welcome! =)

  2. I agree wholeheartedly with Michelle - you are Domestic Goddess Extraordinaire! :D You're also making me want to get my breadmaker out... I have some German Grain bread-mix that I use to make the scrummiest bread ever. :)

  3. One of the easiest ways to get seeds into/onto your bread: Just before backing, brush the tops with a wash of an egg and some milk, then sprinkle with sesame seeds. The glaze gets shiny, and the seeds get toasted.
