This month I'm reading Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices trilogy - I'm up to the final book.
I really enjoyed the first book, and then the second not as much.
Maybe that's always the way with a trilogy? The first one is action packed to get you hooked, then the second on slows down for some character development and builds to a big finish in the third?
I am really enjoying the action bits, but have to admit that I have found the romancey parts a bit forced and tedious.
That said, I'm still pretty keen to read the other series - the Mortal Instruments.
There are 5 novels in that series, and the first has been made into a film - City of Bones - due for release in August.
I'd love to hear what you're reading - leave a comment below to let us know, or linking to you blog if you do a monthly book round up too =)
Happy reading

I'm currently rereading Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series. I really enjoy a good urban fantasy and Kate is one of my favourite characters in this genre. Also a great read is Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series. It's an awesome steampunk adventure :)
ReplyDeleteNice one ! I've read so little over the last 10 yrs or so - it's completely embarrassing - so it's great to have recommendations for something new =)
DeleteI am reading... children's books. I haven't read a good book in ages... I was reading an Elm Creek Quilt's book to S as his bedtime reading, but I think he got jack of that so now we're back to "That's not my tiger" and "The Penguins are Coming" (the last one is actually quite a good book).
ReplyDeleteOooh I have the first one in the elm creek quilt books but haven't started yet! I love hearing about what people are reading with their kids! Michelle from poppy bean & bloss and Jo from hey there Alice both post about what their kids are reading - so much fun!
DeleteI find second books in most series are a let down! Im currently taking a break mid way through the Outlander Series (Diana Gabaldon) and reading a few country romances!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of the outlander series, but not read any - will add to my list of things to check out =)
